Description

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition is a welcomed and a modern redesign to the original Hyper 212 CPU cooler. But anyways, coming back to the point, we’ve seen an exponential growth in terms of computer components receiving the RGB treatment and of course aggressive design elements that might be appealing to some of you out there, but it’s always refreshing to see companies go back to the drawing board and perfect some of their very popular components from, 5 or 10 years ago to make them even better. This new design feels like a proper solution, and should help with a more secure fit compared to the older design. The Direct Contact Technology, stacked fins and 4 heatpipes reduces airflow resistance, reduces heat spots and increase airflow to the heatsinks. Overclocked temperatures at 100% load were down 19 degrees Celsius for the standard Black Edition cooler, and the RGB Black Edition dropped temps down 21 degrees.

The very top of the cooler got a face lift which features a brushed aluminum surface finish for a more premium look and feel. I've applied a thin layer of thermal paste using the spreader that comes with the XTM150 to evenly distribute it on the IHS.It’s rated at a bit higher speed than the Silencio fan we talked about earlier so in theory it should move a bit more air. We still get support for an extensive range of processor platforms, from AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets, to Intel's LGA1700, LGA1200 and LGA115x offerings. When it comes to single-tower coolers, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 range is probably among the best-known and best-selling coolers to ever be released. The included SF120R fan arrives with a pair of mounting brackets that feel much more durable than the older 212 EVO design, and the fan spins from 650-2000 RPM (+/- 10%) for a max airflow of 57.

During testing, the default fan curves were used, and the approximate temperature of the test bench's surroundings was measured to be around 29°C.It feels appropriate that baseball season is right around the corner because Cooler Master has hit it out of the park with the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition. On to the fan frame, we get RGB diffuser rings on both sides, as well as rubber dampeners on all four corners of the fan frame to help reduce unwanted vibrations. Sleek Finishing - Anodized gun-metal black with brushed aluminum surface finish to the top cover for a more refined look.
