I would suggest that if one is into the fairly generic pop of say Taylor Swift, then one will not like this band's music one little bit. The result is a decent debut album, a pretty unlistenable second and the last album as they decamped away from their London dealers to Sheffield to offer a unique take on modern Britain that as time goes on is proving to be a minor classic. Co-written with lucidity and humour by singer Lias Saoudi and acclaimed author Adelle Stripe, Ten Thousand Apologies is that rare thing: a music book that barely features any music, a biography as literary as any novel, and a confessional that does not seek forgiveness.Fat White Family, the cult indie band started in 2011 by brothers Lias and Nathan Saoudi, along with Saul Adamczewski, have had an unsettled lineup and a bumpy career. Ten Thousand Apologies” is surely one of the most grimly compelling books ever written about the dehumanising effects of the music industry.

While he may not be the most likeable, I think this book reenforces Saoudi as one of the most sincere, vulnerable, and non-commercialized musical talents today and I am thankful for that.At its center are the two Saoudi boys, Lias and Nathan, whose upbringing across Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Algeria, and London forms the surprising highlight of the book, as well as Saul Adamczewski, whose prodigious musical talent is matched only by his prodigious drug habit. It's brilliantly written and will take you from the London music scene in the 2010s to northern Ireland, rural Algeria, and across the USA and Europe.
