I do understand and believe in the power of positive thinking and believe it is key. In that regard, I could relate to this book. And positive thinking is something that I have and continue to, struggle mightily with.

The Law of Expectancy: Shinn emphasizes the power of the imagination to bring about life events: "Whatever man feels deeply or images clearly, is impressed upon the subconscious mind, and carried out in minutest detail." [1] There is an old saying that man only dares use his words for three purposes, to "heal, bless or prosper." What man says of others will be said of him, and what he wishes for another, he is wishing for himself.” cards (22 parts makes joy maps, 9 investment, 6 luxury mansion, 6 trusts home, 6 academic occupation and 6 occupation cards) The Law of Substitution: According to Florence Scovel Shinn, sometimes our desires are misdirected: "Many people are in ignorance of their true destinies and are striving for things and situations which do not belong to them, and would only bring failure and dissatisfaction if attained." [1]I have found it destructive to look to the psychic plane for guidance, as it is the plane of many minds, and not the One Mind. As man opens his mind to subjectivity, he becomes a target for destructive forces.” however, i do believe in grace and in being open to grace and goodness; and i certainly believe in right behavior, esp. as zen buddhism defines it. The game begins with a player choosing to start a career path or start college on their first turn.

The student continued, “How long must one remain in the dark” and I replied, “Until one can see in the dark,” and “Casting the burden enables one to see in the dark.” This book would argue that we all have the upper hand in our own life paths. That we are responsible for our own woes, our own love in life, our own illness.Afterward, each player turns over the lifestyle cards that hide in front of him. This is the moment of truth. You and every other player will learn about the achievements they have made in their playful lives. Each player adds the amounts printed on his lifestyle cards to the amount of money he has earned. The winner is the player who now has the most money. How do you like the game of life – my opinion on the game It is a great audio, i would like to ask for permission in my youtube channel, mlangeninc@ Surely you have already thought about what your life would have been like if you had studied instead of going straight to work, or vice versa. Would you have earned more or less money? If you like a realistically simulated game and it inspires you, you will enjoy the game of life. The game is equally playable and entertaining with many players. The board game is perfect as a family game. I can warmly recommend the game of life to you. Conclusion The imaging faculty plays a leading part in the game of life.
… What man images, sooner or later, externalizes in his affairs.”

Scovel Shinn's writing shares some common beliefs with Mary Baker Eddy, and there is some shared terminology. e.g. 'Infinite Spirit', 'Mortal Mind', 'Treatment', 'Demonstration' and 'Native Nothingness'. However her writing style is more familiar and less verbose than that of Mary Baker Eddy. As in Christian Science, Florence Scovel Shinn questions the reality of evil: "Jesus Christ said: "Resist not evil," for He knew in reality, there is no evil, therefore nothing to resist. [1] First the good. I can appreciate the power of positive thinking. Many religions and Spiritual theories encourage this. The Buddhists sure do. I would have liked the book so much more if the author had elaborated on the concepts in more depth rather than jumping in each instance to her super simplistic a-woman-came-to-me stories. however i decided to stay with the book until at least the 3rd and 4th chapters and slowly -- very slowly -- began to recognize some valid points. helpful and almost healthy thoughts, actually. so IF a person reads this work with a critical mind that knows how to separate the wheat from the chaff, then that reader could possibly refine their thoughts on what life's game is about and how best to be a player. but beware of her definitions. not all of them are reliable.I have some very spiritual friends. We have talks like this constantly. And I will write down what about this book put me off. In other words..what I did not take too. Florence Scovel Shinn (September 24, 1871, Camden, New Jersey – October 17, 1940) was an American artist and book illustrator who became a New Thought spiritual teacher and metaphysical writer in her middle years. In New Thought circles, she is best known for her first book, The Game of Life and How to Play It (1925).

Although negativity can indeed induce even more negativity and our minds can sometimes make alive our biggest fears, I do not believe that all evil is caused by man alone. You’ll be presented with decisions at every twist and turn, but crossroad moments will affect your life path. Will you get married or stay single? Have kids or adopt a pet? Buy a house? Make a career change? It’s up to you! And in this sequel there’s an added crossroad, so you can choose to make those important choices earlier or later in life. A new Peg has entered the board! Choose from the Pink, Blue or the NEW Purple Peg. Select an Outfit and make your Peg your own. Browse a selection of cars, bikes and scooters and find a ride to suit your style. Will you wear your business suit on a bicycle? Or roll up to College in a Sports Car? It’s up to you! My issue with the book was the over-simplicity of it, with the examples that were you simplistic, they seemed almost offensive to one's intellect. Again, I can appreciate the message of the book, just not the delivery. Also, the book heavily draws from and references to the Christian faith and the Bible and since I am not a Christian, it was with a healthy distance that I was reading and absorbing the message. Most spaces are orange, and a player must follow the directions of the orange space when landed on.Alma Gilbert-Smith. Cornish Art of the Past Century: Art for Art’s Sake. Cornish Colony Gallery & Museum, 2001. Each turn, a player will spin the wheel and move the equal number of spaces. Follow the directions of the space landed on. There are four colors of spaces. Players that go to college get to draw three career cards and three salary cards. The player will then choose one job option and one salary option they want to keep.
